The Department of Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center has compiled a wide range of pathology case studies to aid students and instructors in learning. In this case, a two-year-old boy was admitted to the emergency room after being exposed to a household insecticide. A lengthy clinical history, and laboratory results are provided, as well as additional information on gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy, cholinesterase, acetylcholinesterase, and dibucaine inhibition. The "Final Diagnosis" section details the conclusions and diagnosis of the patient's physician, and points to further readings on this topic. Students entering health sciences fields will find this resource very helpful, as it provides experience with patient history, lab results and diagnostics.
