Description:

This webpage contains an interactive simulation that is a schematic illustration of conduction in semiconductors. Users can create doped semiconductors and PN junctions and explore their behavior as a function of applied voltage. The simulation gives a representation of how the electron population created by doping results in physical properties of semiconductor devices. This page also contains sample learning goals as well as a teacher's guide for use with the simulation. This simulation is part of a large and growing collection. It has been designed using principles from physics education research and refined based on student interviews.
