This is a comprehensive problem set (with solutions) for high school physics, developed for use with the PhET simulation Wave on a String. It is formatted so that users can make responses online, at the same time they are interacting with the simulation. It assesses understanding of the motion of single and dual pulses/waves generated on a virtual string with fixed or movable end. Users will be demonstrating comprehension of wave properties, reflection, wave interference, standing waves, and introductory harmonics. Solutions are detailed, and may be distributed to provide immediate feedback upon completion. Allow two days if completed in school computer lab. SEE RELATED MATERIALS ON THIS PAGE for a link to the "Wave on a String" simulation.
