Description:

A course for freshman and sophmores that provides the basic computational tools and techniques needed for further study in science and engineering. Approach is through projects that solve problems in physical sciences and mathematics using symbolic and compiled languages with vizualization. By use of the Maple problem solving environment in combination with a conventional programming language (Java) the students learn programming concepts in parallel with scientific problem solving. The problems are chosen to be of interest to the students and to establish the relevance of the problem-solving approach.
