Following the guidelines of the California Basic Skills Initiative, Pierce is offering three new developmental courses: a module-based elementary algebra, an activity-based intermediate algebra, and a one-semester combined elementary/intermediate. The presenter will give a progress report, highlighting successes and remaining challenges.

Looking for teaching resources for your developmental mathematics class? The Developmental Mathematics Collection (DMC) is a new partner of the MathDL Pathway of the National Science Digital Library (NSDL). The DMC is a collection of resources ranging from classroom activities to topic specific lesson plans and research related to learning and teaching mathematics. We’ll look at example resources and also review the process through which resources are reviewed and then promoted from regional Knowledge Exchanges to the national collection.
