This lesson was created to teach the kids the importance of Earth Day and keeps the Earth clean! After being show an episode of Captain Planet the class will be split up into groups of 4 or 5 to become members of Captain Planet's team to help clean up the Earth. Students are to research the history of Earth Day and its importance and then come up with a project to contribute to Earth Day. The groups are to then prepare a poster displaying their work and present it to the class in their Captain Planet personas. This lesson will address Linguistic intelligence for those who can speak well and explain thing to others, Spatial intelligence for those who are visual learners (use of the board and pictures), as well as interpersonal intelligence for the public speaker. Students will have to remember some information in order to present and explain it (although visuals will be provided). They will also have to understand the subject matter to explain it, apply it to real-life situations, and test it out. They will have to be creative through out the lesson by role-playing, presenting, and creating their own project.
