Reviewer Comments:

The title and Excel attachment of this resource are correctly identified to be about the properties of matter (Unit 3), however the wiki cover page is from a food web unit (Unit 5). In this comprehensive 16 day unit, sixth grade students will learn determine whether substances are the same or different based on physical and chemical properties. The unit is presented in an Excel file with separate tabs for the unit overview and each subsequent lesson. Each lesson has an estimated timeline, anticipated prior knowledge, a lesson objective, suggested assessment, aligned standards and materials needed, in addition to a summary of all lesson procedures. There is also a space on each plan to write notes about and reflect upon the implementation of the lesson. The lesson summaries are somewhat brief and teachers would need to decide which content to include in activities such as the “whiteboard quiz” and “exit cards.” Some sort of answer keys and specific lab exploration procedures would be helpful to teachers unfamiliar with the content. Overall, this unit is outstanding in its level of detail, scope and variety of learning tasks.
