Full Course, Curriculum, Scope & Sequence

Description:

The Pierce College math department recently voted to streamline and standardize the content of our elementary algebra course to focus on core topics and SLO's. Because intermediate algebra is now a requirement for the AA degree, some concepts and skills previously covered in both courses can now be initiated in elementary algebra and developed more fully in the intermediate course.

Maybe someone can answer a general question about how courses with the same number are treated in the district. It's my understanding that a student who takes Math 115 at Harbor for example, and passes, can then take Math 125 at Southwest. If that's the case, don't we generally need to have a similar (core) content so that this transferability works? Again, I'm not knowledgeable on how this process works. It just seems that a change in content for a "standard" course might require some re-numbering.
