This resource guide from the Middle School Portal 2 project, written specifically for teachers, provides links to exemplary resources including background information, lessons, career information, and related national science education standards. This electronic publication offers middle school teachers select resources that they can use when teaching about the prototype development stage of the design process. Engineers engage in the design process when they are developing new products. The featured resources are all online and are organized into three sections: background information, activities, and projects. The resources in the activities section offer instructions for conducting hands-on design activities, while the projects section highlights portions of a design curriculum. Teaching tips are included in many of the descriptions of the individual resources.
