Description:

Students are working on a unit about puppetry. This is one of the first activities to develop background knowledge about puppets. Big ideas in this section of the unit are the definition of puppets, the many types of puppets, puppetry as an ancient art form, and many countries have very old traditions in puppetry that remain an important part of their current cultures.

Reviewer Comments:

This lesson plan on researching puppets from around the world gives some background information to guide teachers. The rubric is complete and guides the students in their process of obtaining information. Specific links to world maps, or history of puppetry would be beneficial. Directions about designing original puppets would make this an even better resource for fine arts or classroom teacher.
