Students will compare the total height of the members of their table group with that of another table group to answer the question:
"Which table group is the tallest?"
Problem: "The ball is stuck on top of the roof. If we stood on each other's shoulders, which table group would be closest to the roof?" Part 1 Ask custodian to help with figuring out height to roof. Measure by dropping yarn off roof and cutting a piece to the length/height from the top of the roof to the floor. Measure that piece of yarn with unifix cubes to determine height of roof. Part 2 Students will measure each other in unifix cubes and determine length of entire table group by adding their lengths together. Then students need to compare their group with the other groups in class to determine which group would be the closest to the top of the roof.
