Description:

Learning about the environment is essential to knowing what you should do to help it. In this activity, you will spend an hour or so immersed in the environment just outside your door. You will also watch videos that feature Native American people and the environments with which they are interconnected. The experience and insights you gain will then be used to prepare a parallel lesson and experience for your students. There is a video that explains why people need to be reconnected with nature, explained by Native American elders. There is an interesting extension activity and classroom activities. There is a helpful section that shows your states standards for grades K-12, and links are provided for related resources on the teachers domain website.
