Description:

Red crabs are only found on Christmas Island in the Indian Ocean. Each year they travel up to eight kilometers (five miles) round-trip to release their eggs. During the dry season, which lasts between two and three months, they remain in self-constructed shelters. In October or November, when the wet season begins, red crabs migrate to the seaside to breed.
