Description:

This professional development video clip of students engaged in Common Core Practice Standard #8—Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning shows a classroom of fourth grade students exploring the relationships between sums and products of numbers when numbers are added to themselves and when they are multiplied by each other. The sum and product of each number is displayed sequentially in an array on grid paper to detect patterns more readily. Additional resources include a video transcript, teaching tips, and a link to a professional development reflection activity based upon the video. A related clip (cataloged separately) shows the same exploration by the same students but Common Core Practice Standard # 7-Look for and make use of structures is evident.
