This curriculum is consists of a variety of K – 5 science lessons, clearly organized by subject (earth, life or physical science) or by grade level. Each lesson is also aligned with the 2009 or 1998 Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). The lessons provide a variety of instructional tools in the 5E format - Engage (multimedia hooks), Explore (teacher guide, QCM chart, student guide and journal), Explain (question prompts and vocabulary), Elaborate (more inquiry, resources, and extensions), and Evaluate (writing prompt and interactive review game). One tool worth highlighting is the Qualitative Content Mastery (QCM) Chart, which allows teachers a quick and easy was to record student progress towards mastery of the targeted concepts. All work is under a Creative Commons license. Each lesson is immediately useful in the classroom after gathering some easily accessible materials for lab investigation. This resource would be a fantastic addition to any K – 5 classroom!
