Authors J. Hadjigeorgiou, D. Milne, and R. Pakalnis introduce different rock mass characterizations and how they play a vital role in rock engineering. This paper discusses the use of three main classification systems by the mining industry. The resource is broken down into three different sections. The first focuses on field parameters and modifications made to these over the past two decades. Design recommendations is the focus of the second portion. The conclusion focuses on errors which may arise in different particular conditions.
