The Saccharomyces Genome Database (SGD) has recently posted online the results of the Saccharomyces Genome Deletion Project. Established in order to generate a complete set of yeast deletion strains (as complete as possible), the overall goal of the project is to assign function to the open reading frames (ORFs) "through phenotypic analysis of the mutants." The Deletion Project homepage describes the project and offers a public access search page for strains -- for which more than 20,000 are now available. In addition, the site includes links to related research sites and publications.
