Description:

Seamaven is a prototype virtual learning tool that is designed to engage middle school science students in the active exploration of the environmental sciences using real-time data from offshore sensors that monitor oceanographic and meteorological processes. Students can "visit" two offshore towers and see real-time data from their instrument packages, or they can access a virtual tour of the Skidaway Institute of Oceanography campus. A set of activities using the data is provided, as well as an online journal, photo gallery, and an "ask-a scientist" feature.
