This page introduces an animation of DNA sequencing. To figure out the order of bases (A's, T's, C's, and G's) in a DNA sample, scientists use a procedure that turns out many copies of a small piece of DNA that a machine then analyzes. The animation is available in Flash format and as static HTML pages. Copyright 2005 Eisenhower National Clearinghouse
