Reviewer Comments:

This comprehensive resource on the short story defines short story, includes hand-outs for five short stories (including definitions of story elements, questions for each story and guides to understand and write the short story). Vocabulary work sheets for each story are provided, as are reading guides for each story. Based on what they have learned in this unit, the final guides take the students through the writing process. There is a guide for setting, character, point of view and beginning action and conflict. Rubrics are provided for grammar and content. The grande finale of this unit asks the questions with which the unit began, eliciting self-reflection for the student.
