Description:

In this geology activity (page 6 of the PDF), learners explore how carbonic acid can slowly dissolve limestone and form caves. They see firsthand that the carbonation in soda has the same effect in dissolving a small piece of limestone. Although this was created as a pre-visit activity for a workshop about various landforms, it also makes an excellent stand alone activity.
