Lesson Plan, Other

This lesson plan is entirely in Spanish, and it is the same as the English counterpart on Sor Juana. This lesson plan gives background information on the life and time of Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz, the first great Latin American poet, and studies in detail two sonnets of the great poet, '' A su retrato'' and '' En perseguirme, Mundo, que interesas?'' The lesson plan leads students through activities involving listening comprehension of the two sonnets, through two worksheets. The lesson also includes an analysis of the structure, form and content of each sonnet (including counting the meter, noting the rhyme scheme in diagrams), as well as essay-writing assignments to analyze and write about poetry. The lesson plan features two interactives created by EDSITEment, one studying a portrait of Sor Juana in her religious habit, and one to help students put in order a scrambled sonnet, '' A su retrato.'' An interactive timeline teaches students about the key dates in the life of the poet and two glossaries give essential vocabulary and literary terms.
