Description:

This interactive applet gives learners an opportunity to freely explore a family of spiral curves called epicycloids. The spirals are generated by the rolling of one circle around another. The learner can change the radii of the circles and the point that draws the curves. There is a section (Where's the Math?) that provides an explanation written for a young person.
