This web page describes and offers links to resources that families can use to learn about materials science, the science behind the development and use of materials. As part of a site that is associated with a traveling exhibition, these resources can be used by families attending that exhibition and by those working from home. The downloadable family guide details hands-on activities and observational exercises that children and adults can do together. In one activity, students make a non-Newtonian fluid and explore its properties. There are also links to the site's four sets of interactive materials for students and to a page of additional resources. Copyright 2005 Eisenhower National Clearinghouse
