This investigation provides children with an activity in which to explore the factors of 36. Students design boxes in rectangular shapes to hold 36 candies which come in four different colors. The candies in the box must be arranged so that no sweets of the same color are adjacent to each other. The Teachers' Notes page offers rationale, suggestions for implementation, discussion questions, and ideas for extension and support.
