This curriculum guide was created in response to the new course offering titled, Explorations Through Literacy 7 (Formerly Reading and Writing 7), a skills-based course for students reading at or below grade level, which requires all students to be college and career ready in the following areas: Reading for Literature, Reading for Informational Texts, Writing, Speaking and Listening, and Language.
In this lesson, one of a multi-part unit from EDSITEment, students focus on two major post-World War II problems: the future of China and the future of Western imperialism in Southeast Asia. They explore French Indochina as a test case of the issues confronting Southeast Asia.

This unit will cover all of the topics in Computer Science Principles “big ideas” numbers 2 and 3; Abstraction and Data and Information that would not be covered in the units on Programming and The Internet.
This lesson is designed to expand primary students' summarizing skills. In this lesson, students will summarize Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs by Judi Barrett. First, they will work in groups to complete assigned parts of a story map. Then, they will summarize the entire story as a class. Finally, they will create their own summary picture books to help them summarize the story.
