This interactive Java applet allows users to explore tessellations made from a triangle, rectangle, or hexagon. The user deforms one of these base shapes into another shape by pulling at its sides and corners and then clicks a button to have the applet tile the plane with that shape. The user can choose two or three colors for the tessellation, depending on the base shape. An information window provides data about the shape to be tiled, including: area, perimeter, coordinates for vertices, and side lengths.
