This external links leads to a resource from The Science Education Resource Center (SERC), at Carleton College and is designed for the high school Earth Science student. Over the course of nine labs, students will use a variety of data, video, animations and hand-on lab activities to learn about hurricanes and related science concepts (such as heat transfer and air pressure). Each lesson plan is detailed and complete, and includes goals, objectives, procedures, all printables, and answer keys. Each student-facing activity includes both “Checking In” (to help students stay on track and prepare for discussion and “Stop and Think questions” (intended to helps students check content learning). Many of these activities work best if students have access to a computer individually or in small groups. With access to the necessary technology and easily-accessible materials, this unit is immediately useful in the classroom.
