Located at The George Washington University, this independent research institute collects and publishes declassified materials acquired through the Freedom of Information Act. The site's Electronic Briefing Books (found under the documents or publications tab) help contextualize documents by supplying information about the political situation and people surrounding a specific event. These briefing books would be very useful for teaching and for helping students understand how to interpret primary material. The archives themselves are searchable and an easy to use interface is available to provide users access to over 60,000 declassified documents. Overall, this is a very useful site for anyone interested in history or political science.
