Description:

The purpose of this web site, developed for middle school students, is to build an understanding of the potential impacts of nanotechnology in the environment. Students work through a series of slides which set the scenario and provide information on the environmental impact of nanoparticles - first in sunscreen and then the effect of particle size. Six activities, teacher background information, and correlations to National Science Education Standard and Wisconsin State Science Standards are provided. An evaluation rubric is also included.
