The purpose of this lesson is to introduce figurative language to students. The lesson uses a simple graphic organizer that once modeled, students can use to analyze figurative language throughout the novel. This lesson focuses on simile, metaphor and personification, but can be adapted to include any other type of figurative language. This resource is part of the The Secret Life of Bees collection.
