E-book, Lesson Plan

Reading response logs can be used throughout the novel. It is essential to model each element of the reading response log. This lesson plan will provide the students with a clear purpose for completing the response logs and provide practice for each element of the log. It is strongly recommended that you use chapter 1 of the novel as the practice text for this lesson. You can, however, use any short text to model and practice the reading response log. This lesson can be separated into parts and completed over a number of days. This resource is part of the The Secret Life of Bees collection.

Reviewer Comments:

This lesson plan is a child of the parent unit, The Secret Life of Bees, http://www.curriki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Coll_jemlloyd/TheSecretLifeofBees. It is on summarization and includes graphic organizers and posters for the classroom. Materials are provided and include a graphic organizer, a chart model and a complete mini lesson. The mini lesson is followed by guided practice then independent practice and assessment. This assignment can be used at many points throughout the novel.
