Description:

What does a civil engineer actually do? This is the introductory page for a set of materials about civil engineering as a career. Here students read about the variety of work done by civil engineers. They are also introduced to a real civil engineer whose work focuses on roadway projects. Her career requires effective teamwork and communication skills, in addition to engineering knowledge. In the remaining materials, students can review the career profile of a civil engineer, view a video clip of a civil engineer sharing information about her work, ask questions of the featured civil engineer on a discussion board, and investigate the route that this particular civil engineer and civil engineers in general take to become professionals in their field.
