Description:

All particles in the atom are in constant motion, according to modern atomic theory. On this page of a tutorial on particle physics, students evaluate the relative size of atomic particles. If protons and neutrons are balls with a 1-centimeter diameter, then electrons have the diameter of a hair. The comparable size of an atom made from these particles would be 30 football fields long.
