Description:

The Tropical Atmosphere Ocean array (now called the TAO/TRITON array) consists of approximately 70 moorings in the Tropical Pacific Ocean that transmit oceanographic and meteorological data in real-time via the Argos satellite system. The array is a major component of the El NiÃo/Southern Oscillation Observing System, the Global Climate Observing System and the Global Ocean Observing System. This site features datasets in the form of buoy summary plots, time series plots, section plots, latitude/longitude plots, as well as modeled animations. Real-time and archived data are also searchable by region, array and parameters such as sea surface temperature, salinity, wind, currents and many others. In addition, the site provides an extensive section devoted the El Nino/La Nina phenomenon.
