Description:

Numismatic legends can be contrived, or they can be accidental - objects that never started as legends but became legendary due to unforeseen circumstances. In this section of the online exhibition entitled "Legendary Coins and Currency'' , students will learn how legends are made, either through the actions of those looking to make a profit, or through simple twists of fate. This highly interactive resource, from the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History, allows students to rotate and zoom in on objects for detailed examination. A glossary linked to the exhibition will help students learn challenging vocabulary.
