Reviewer Comments:

This is an excellent collection of resources for teaching about current issues facing Venezuela. The lessons are geared towards increasing subject matter understanding and developing important academic skills. Each activity is full of accurate content, thoughtful instructional strategies, and great handouts. Some of the highlights include an examination of national priorities, a role playing activity that has students write a balanced briefing on Hugo Chavez, and a town meeting simulation around energy policy. Not only do the lessons include materials that can be used right away, they also have a whole series of weblinks to other relevant content. The materials are based on Washington State Standards around content based assessments and could be easily integrated into classes around the country studying such topics as global issues, energy policy, or economics.
