COMMITTEE MEMBERS Mr. Brian Vanek, Instructor Mr. Matthew Swanson, Instructor Ms. Susan Thompson, Chairperson The Video Game Design course is a full year course that will provide students with the opportunity to design, develop, test and evaluate various types of video games, programs and their environments. This course will be an introductory course for the subject, and will provide a starting point for students who are interested in this emerging field. The course will be delivered through the use of teacher created lessons, independent student and group student learning environments, student critiques and the use of computer design. Students will be given the chance to combine their love of video games with the design process along with some imagination to create video games. This course will allow students to learn fundamental software development and programming concepts in the context of creating simple video games by utilizing software to develop basic programming techniques. Software to be used for this course may include but are not limited to Alice, Java, and Scratch.
