This is Daniel Boone's first-person narrative; it appears as he actually wrote it, using the grammar and syntax current in America in the 1700s. The only concession made — and that only for the purpose of making Boone's personal account easier to read — is the substitution of "s" in place of what appears as an "f" in the original text. This is a very famous painting which is very descriptive of the sentiments of the era on the subject of westward expansion. As the painting is analyzed, one can even tie in the concept of 'Manifest Destiny'.
