Description:

In this activity, students will explore averages and rates of change and apply to calculate the cumulative effect of garbage thrown out by people over time. They will use population data from the U.S. Bureau of Census to estimate how much garbage your county threw away during one month. Units of weight and money are used to clearly demonstrate the effects of waste.
