In this activity, a balloon, flour, pebbles and a funnel are used to create a simulation of a meteorite impact. Balloons containing flour and pebbles are thrown onto a hard surface and students note the pattern of impact and draw it in their journals. They use this information to hypothesize how scientists could use this information to locate meteorite impacts. The resource is part of the teacher's guide accompanying the video, NASA SCI Files: The Case of the Shaky Quake. Lesson objectives supported by the video, additional resources, teaching tips and an answer sheet are included in the teacher's guide.
