Description:

In this activity, students plug inputs into a function machine and, given the outputs, must determine what function the machine if performing. The inputs and outputs are recorded in a table so the student can examine pairs of inputs and outputs to determine the function. This activity allows students to explore finding functions from inputs and outputs and what inputs are most useful to finding the function. This activity includes supplemental materials, including background information about the topics covered, a description of how to use the application, and exploration questions for use with the java applet.
