Description:

In calculus, finding the derivative of a composite function f(g) follows a rule called the Chain Rule.  It's not intuitive, and it can take students 3 or 4 days to get accustomed to the rule, but they often do not see WHY it has to be followed.  This explanation makes it clear with a simple drawing.
