In this statistics lesson students collect data from their bug - whacking activity and organize the gathered data in a table. The class creates a pictograph of the total number of each bug swatted by the students. Learners individually create a bar graph of the data and compare the representations. The lesson plan includes a table to collect data, a bug template for the activity, a bug template for the pictograph, and a student worksheet for the bar graph. Extensions and connection ideas, writing prompts and assessment questions, and strategies for differentiation are included.
