Graphic Organizer/Worksheet


Students will choose a scene from one of Shakespeare’s plays and re-enact the scene in a modern setting. This re-enactment will be recorded using digital video. Students will add commentary to the video. Throughout this commentary, they will discuss why they chose the scene, its importance to the overall play, and reasons why they chose to modernize the scene as they did.

Support Steaching: This resource provides an engaging way to teach, interpret and modernize Shakespeare in a digital world.
Assessments Quality: The rubric included assesses both the technical production of the digital recording, as well as the enactment of the scene from Shakespeare and its modernization.
Instructional Quality: This resource is a 3-4 week unit requiring 3-5 hours per week. Students will engage with analyzing, modernizing and acting out a scene from Shakespeare, as well as digitally recording and editing it. They will have ample time to develop these complex skills.
Deeper Learning: Students engage in critical thinking and problem solving to decide on how to modernize and act out a scene from Shakespeare. They will also have to communicate effectively and collaborate to film and edit the production.
