Why Your Tool Choice Is a Privacy Decision

Consumer AI models often log your prompts by default and may reuse them to train future versions. Education-specific models under a district contract typically disable that logging — which is exactly why the tool you choose matters.

Four Moves for a Privacy-Preserving Workflow

Minimize the Data

Enter only what is strictly needed to get the job done. If the task doesn’t require a detail, leave it out of the prompt entirely.

Use Aliases or Placeholders

Replace real student names with aliases or generic labels — “Student A,” for example — before including any work in a prompt.

Strip File Metadata

Names and other identifying details can hide in a file’s metadata. Remove that information before uploading any document.

Disable History & Training

Check your account settings and turn off prompt history and model-training opt-ins wherever the option is available.

Make reviewing account privacy settings a habit before you begin any task — not an afterthought once data has already been entered.
